Blog for Sale

for-sale-sign.jpg

No, The Rookie Blogger is not up for sale, but it seems like every other blog is. If you look in my “Some Good Reads” section you will see the blogs I read everyday. Two of those blogs have been sold, or are in the process of being sold.

Ryan Shamus - has already been sold to a guy name Gavin. Ryan was one of my first contacts in blogging and purchased my first ad. Ryan has a lot going on in the online world and wasn’t able to give his blog the attention he wanted. His blog has been active for only 6 months, or so and pulled in $2500. I will miss reading Ryan’s posts, but the new guy, Gavin, seems like he will bring some interesting articles to the mix.

One Man’s Goal - is in the process of being sold. Bryan is asking $8500 for his blog (let’s see if he can get that much). Bryan’s blog is about his goal to a full time income online. His goals are very similar to mine - the major reason I enjoyed his blog so much. Bryan only gave himself a year to accomplish his goal. Bryan’s blog will be a little harder to sell/market with a different blogger because it is so personal. I do wish him luck in the sale.

Why Are All These Blogs Selling and is it Selling Out?

One of the major reasons people are looking to buy blogs right now is they can get a good deal since the Google PageRank update. Many blogs were penalized with the new update and not given a PR they deserved. So, if you should be a PR5 and received a PR3 you wouldn’t be able to get as much for your blog (theoretically that is). So, a person could snatch up this blog at a PR3 price, or somewhere in between and probably make a decent profit.

As far as “selling out” goes - no, I don’t think placing your blog up for sale is “selling out”. In most cases people have a lot of projects going on at once and their blog could suffer from lack of time for posting. Before this happens they are selling the blog to someone who will be able to spend more time on the blog. If you can’t write posts regularly you will more then likely lose readers and then the blog will just go down hill. It makes more sense to sell when the blog is “hot” for the seller. Unless the blog is in such shambles the blogger just wants to get the heck out.

Just had to write this quick thought after I check out Bryan’s blog today. Stay tuned to find out how I made $45 in less than 5 minutes and how you can too!

I’d have to be offered a whole lot of money in order to sell any of my blogs. I just don’t think I could do it. Maybe one or two that I don’t keep up with as much, but probably not. LOL

I think it would be a very tough decision. But, if you have so many projects going on and you can’t keep up anymore then I think I could. You do put a lot of time and effort into a blog and it would be difficult to sell it without feeling a little sad about it.

Blogs that actually spell $$$ gives a lot more determination to aspiring bloggers. I just think if the buyer and new administrator will be able to fill in the shoes left behind…

    Michael,

We bought OneMansGoal.com. I hope we can keep the kind of content that interested you in the first place - in the next couple weeks I hope to expound about our reason for purchasing OneMansGoal and how we intend to make OUR money online and help the current readership make money as well.

Mark purchased the site, but I’ll be doing a lot of the posting.

    Austin,

Thanks for posting - I look forward to reading the blog when it gets up and running again and you put your own personal touch on it.

[...] for even if they never plan on selling it.  A couple recent sales which I already wrote about - “Blog For Sale” indicate you can get about $25 to $35 per RSS [...]
