How Helpful are A-List Bloggers?

After reading a post over at One Man’s Goal about “how big an ass” Vic is from Blogger Unleased I made a comment he didn’t care too much for. Basically, I said if someone tore into me I probably wouldn’t like them that much either, but Vic has been the most helpful blogger I have encountered. Vic has on several occasions given out his Skype contact info and offered to help bloggers out with any questions they have. I asked Bryan from OMG what A-lister would ever do this for a no-name blogger. Here was his response:

Have you tried contacting A-List bloggers? They are usually more than happy to help with problems you encounter. I’ve only contacted John Chow once, but he got back to me promptly. Darren Rowse, Yaro Starak, Maki (DoshDosh), and Andy Beard have all helped me with problems at one time or another.

To make a comment like this, I’m assuming that you just believe Vic when he says they offer no help. They’ve been there to help me, what’s the difference?

I decided this was a fair argument and since I have only attempted to contact a couple more prominent bloggers I shouldn’t really jump to any conclusions. So, I decided to come up with a little experiment because unlike all the fake asses out there I am now going to be proving crap before I write about it.

What I Came Up With

I came up with a very simple solution - write an a simple, honest, and straight-forward email to certain “A-listers” to see just how helpful they are. I wanted to come across as being very new to the ‘make money online’ niche and at the same time not appear to want a handout. I won’t post the email just yet, I want to wait until the “experiment” is over so I don’t ruin it. I just wanted everyone to get a little intro.

What do I think is going to happen? Well, it has been a little bit over 24 hours and I have only got 1 response out of 6 and it isn’t looking promising. I expect to get some generic responses like “read my blog for these answers” and shit like that. I predict 1 out of 6 will be willing to help me out in the way I asked (which wasn’t that demanding by the way). I love the idea of this experiment and I am not doing it just to prove Bryan wrong (altough this is part of the reason). Bryan is really a nice guy, but when he wrote the comment above he wasn’t thinking about the average blogger. I mean, how many emails a day do these top bloggers get asking questions? Probably hundreds, so why would they answer mine? Well, I don’t really expect them too. My whole frickin point was if you really think Vic is such an asshole how can you explain him taking time out to do this? Yeah, he may get a few affiliate referrals from some programs he has on the site, but personally responding and giving out Skype contact info is amazing. Can you imaging John Chow giving out his Skype to people? Hell no he wouldn’t, he wouldn’t take a minute out of his day to Skype with me I don’t care what Bryan says.

I am not saying all A-listers are assholes. I am just saying most are too frickin busy to help out people unless they are making money off you. So, here’s the deal - I will be giving the A-listers 5 days to respond to my initial email. I think this is a fair amount of time. I will post my email along with their responses and I will let you guys know who the most helpful out of the bunch was. I am really excited about this little “experiment” and can’t wait for the results.

    Yaro,

Maybe I sent you the email and maybe I didn’t… no cheating now! Man, I didn’t actually think any “A-lister” would come on the blog, but I guess you sniffed it out from OMG. My results may now be screwed… ha

Rookie your results are not screwed the only reason he showed up is because the Hypocrite Bryan pitches the crap Yaro sells. So they both make money from Bryan making sure that Yaro shows here to prove wrong his crap.

BTW Maybe Yaro should also be as fast to pay Monika from yeppoonchronicle.com the $100 dollars he own her for writing the articles he ordered for her. Or even better maybe he should start answering her emails so he could at least tell her that hey will not pay her the money he own her.

Yaro is another scammer that takes peoples money with the crap he sells.

Now Yaro do not waste your time answering your crap to me here just go and pay Monika her money you FUCKING SCUM BAG!!!

If you can pay your supposed assistant Angela then you should be able to pay Monika. If you do not pay I will make a post on my site.

Rookie keep the good work and slowly but surely I will unmasked all this scum bags.

    Vic,

I know I was being sarcastic with that. Actually Yaro has already replied even before this post was written and the results are interesting so far. I edited your censorship of yourself in your post. Don’t worry, you can cuss here as much as you like - this is an open blog. Thanks for taking time out to read my post because this one was kind of for you!

Also - Monika was paid about three weeks ago.

    Yaro

  • 6

Mmhh… don’t know what happened, but I guess I have to put my two cents to this conversation.

Firstly, Yaro is correct , he did pay me about three weeks ago. Initially I wasn’t happy that I had to send 3 emails to Yaro to get paid and actually point him to my posts link when he simply could have logged into his back admin and looked up my name to find it.

I felt like it was some kind of stalling method by Yaro to avoid paying me altogether. However, I did get paid and that’s fair enough.

I do not want bad blood between me and Yaro even though I was disappointed by this whole incident.

I did mention something about having to send 3 emails to Yaro to Vic on one of our skype conversations and he must have totally misunderstood the whole situation. Yes, I wasn’t happy which I said to him but for some reason he believed that I still haven’t been paid and my emails haven’t been answered.

Oh my, what a mess. Sorry Vic for leaving the wrong impression about this incident and sorry to you Yaro for having Vic misunderstand me.

Hope this clears this whole incident up.

I have to chime in on this. I spent some time writing for Yaro at Entrepreneurs-Journey.Com and I ALWAYS got paid on time.

This is why I can’t stand Vic. He’s bad for blogging in general. Instead of maintaining the community aspect of blogging, he decides that he wants to become the tornado that tears down what others have created. He’s a smart guy, and he is obviously good at what he does… why does he have to be a jerk? He can’t go on making money without trying to bring people down around him?

This is a situation that he had no reason to get into. But in typical Vic fashion, he wants to chime in and make sure that his loud mouth is heard. This problem was obviously solved without him, but he seems to think that he is captain blogger, and that he must swing his mighty “honor” stick at those that are getting in his way. Vic, shut up… do your own thing, leave everyone else alone.

Awesome experiment. I’ve had good replies with Darren on the questions I asked him, but I think it will all depend on how provocative the questions are that you ask them. Please don’t tell me you asked “How do I make money online?”

@Justin - Thanks for stopping buy and taking the time to subscribe. I completely agree with you that a blogger should be able to write whatever they like because that is the point of free speech. Along with this, though, comes the ability to respond to people how and when you want.

This should be an interesting experiment.

Although, after reading the comments I feel like I stepped into the middle of a family argument or something…like when your sister blurts out at the dinner table that she’s pregnant and she’s dropping out of high school to run off with “Boris” and sell his “art” on the side of the road in San Diego and at first your parents are just stunned but then they get really pissed off and dishes start flying and then someone notices that you’re still in the room and that maybe they should try to calm down and make some sense of it all…kinda like that.

While I’m certainly not an “A Lister” I am notoriously bad at responding to emails. I get so much crap in everyday it’s hard to weed sometimes plus I’ll tend to put stuff off until ‘later’. I’ve got at least a dozen emails I need to respond to on programming, fishing or guitars right now but, instead, I’m posting this comment. Oops!

    Frank C on January 30th, 2008
  • 14

Damnit Jason when were you at my house?

Let me start by saying I don’t know Vic and have never emailed him or talked to the guy. I became aware of him a few weeks ago when someone emailed me a link to BloggerUnleashed. Having said that, the fact is that the Blogosphere needs someone like Vic.

Far too many noobs and other people who are having a hard time making money on the Internet are falling for crap from A-Listers and Wannabe A-Listers. Vic is a straight shooter and that’s just what these people need. Not crap like JC and other so called A-Listers are pushing. If you listen to Vic’s advice and act on it, chances are you’ll end up making far more than what any A-lister will tell you.

Vic just exposes the soft underside of the Blogosphere and all the little tricks A-Listers do and don’t tell about.

@Rookie, I like your blog here and what you’re trying to do. If I were you, I wouldn’t waste my time on A-listers and find the guys who really make money on the Internet. Guys like Vic, Eli @bluehatseo and Stuart at Earnersblog. Over the years, I’ve learned more from people like this than any of the mainstream “Guru’s”.

The only A-lister’s advice I’ve found helpful was Shoemoney. Darren at ProBlogger did answer a question for me once, but it was kinda vague. But he did respond quickly.

@Don- Thanks for the suggestions about the other websites I will check them out for sure. The whole idea of this blog is the fact I realized what you said about the A-listers, again thanks for the great advice.

the rookie on January 30th, 2008
  • 16

If I can point out one more thing here… I’m not an A-lister by any means, and I’ve never claimed to be. But I get about 30-40 emails a day asking me for blogging advice. And a lot of them are dumb questions like - “how do I make money online”?

I answer all legitimate questions, and people that aren’t asking for the magic formula to success…. but I can’t possibly answer some of them. It takes way too much time.

Now you see the problem when I have 30-40 of these emails a day. Imagine someone like Darren, Yaro, Shoe, or John Chow - who get hundreds of these a day! If they spent all day answering them, they’d be using most of their productivity for things that didn’t make them any money.

I don’t mind answering questions via email… but I hate those that are asking for a magic formula instead of at least ATTEMPTING to do the research themselves. Questions like “How Did You Get So Many Pageviews” really aren’t worth my time being that answers to this question are everywhere… including my blog. Read first, ask questions if you get stuck.

Don’t expect people to guid you to wealth. You have to do some of this yourself.

And of course, I’m merely spectating… but this could be why A-listers aren’t answering the mail from some people who claim that they don’t.

Bryan Clark on January 30th, 2008
  • 17

@Bryan - the email, which you will see in a couple of days didn’t simply ask “How do I make money online?” I am not going to get into it here because I want to give peeps a chance to answer it, but it did come from a very newbie perspective and that is how I wrote it. Again, I don’t want to give up too much here. Just wait a few days and I will post exactly what the email was.

the rookie on January 30th, 2008
  • 18

I wasn’t meaning you… I just see all kinds of people saying “A-Listers don’t respond to email”.

    That’s probably because it’s a dumb question.

Bryan what “Page Views” your site is dead LMAO it was dead when you sold it and that is why you had to buy it back cause the kid probably said he would bad mouth your sorry ass for selling him shit. You are such a fucking hypocrite you act like your a nice guy but in return you where then same asshole who was telli9ng his readers to go tell Google to fuck themselves that Bloggers did not need Google you are such an ignorant person. You are the worst ignorant type of person the one that is clueless but acts like he is not and in the process hurt many good people trying to learn how this business works.

You and Yaro both are jokes .

The good thing is people are starting to wake up and notice all the bullshit you people have fed them for so long.

You say you do not like me and you say you have not read my blog but yet you went to my site and left the following comments.

    Vic,

Sorry you feel that way. While I enjoy your blog, I have to disagree with the statement that One Man’s Goal is dead.

OMG has never been the vehicle for income production. It was simply a place for me to share with others (or nobody), what I was learning. And I guess we have a different idea of what failure is… I was able to jump into something completely foreign, and make a sustainable living within 6 months. While I may not make as much as you, or other bloggers for that matter, I make enough to survive, and I get to work from home, whenever I want.

I guess we have different ideas of what “success” is. So, good luck to you and your new endeavors. I’ll keep plugging away the only way I know how, and hopefully we both achieve great success.

Bryan as you can see I do not delete comments here and I do not use the Askimet spam filter when I disagree with a reader.

You are a fucking hypocrite and the shit you write about is the self serving you where preaching the same shit Yaro Starak preaches so you could get peeps to subscribe to Yaro Starak mentoring shit and in return you would get a monthly payment as an affiliate. People could subscribe to that shit and spend a whole fucking year just like you and go fucking knowhere, till this day you have no idea what so ever how to drive traffic to a site.

I would like to remind you that you where one of the ass holes who was telling people to tell Google to fuck themselves you are the worst asshole out their a Dumb Fuck that writes shit and hurts people. Yeah you knew so much you had to sell that piece of shit site because it has no traffic you Dumb Fuck.

So you can go with your dead fucking site and go fuck yourself. Keep putting people in the Askimet folder when you disagree.

You will never make real money online because you are fucking clueless if you want to learn how to make real fucking money keep reading a real mans site and do not worry I will never delete your comments and send you to the Askimet folder YOU FUCKING HYPOCRITE!

You are one angry guy. And what are you saying about deleting comments? I don’t delete comments… it might have been caught by my spam filter, but if that’s the case it was because you posted more than 4 links in a single comment.

I don’t check the spam filter, and I don’t delete comments. Speak freely on my site, as you do on your own.

I’m not sure why you are so angry, but good luck to you in your future endeavors. Blogger Unleashed and Blogging Zoom look to have a ton of potential. Keep up the good work.

FUCK YOU!!!! Besides a fucking hypocrite you are a lier.

Bryan one of the huge benefits of having a 147 IQ is memory.

On August 30 2007 you wrote an articled named How To Generate 10-20% More Traffic In Less Than 10 Minutes where you talk on how with Article directory’s you could increase traffic by 10-20% I made a comment telling you that your numbers where totally fucked up as articles directories are useful for link building but not for traffic, now I went in great detail to explain why you where wrong and how much of a noob you where by writing shit that worked in the early 2000’s but not anymore you where doing the same shit as all the other noobs do which is write re-hash of re-hash.

No you fucking schmuck there where no links in the comment you went ahead and marked my comment as spam so I was reported to Askimet as a spammer you fucking lier.

But to prove my point that you are a fucking lier and a scumbag I will use your own writing.

Since your feelings where hurt by me telling you that you where a noob and the shit you wrote was wasting a bunch of peoples time you wrote a detail post the following day 31 August 2007 which you titled The 7 Types Of Visitors where you write and let me quote because it is just a fucking classic.

    1. The Hater - These people are bottom feeders. They strive on knocking others down because it makes them feel like they are better than you. I get these readers regularly and it seems that they are absolutely dying to make you think you can’t do it. Usually when these readers comment, it is anonymous. They are cowards, and confrontation with haters should be avoided at all costs… you’ll never win until you just shut up and prove them wrong. Haters are usually loyal readers though, they come back every day to see if you are one step closer to failure.

So you see you sorry fucking loser I inspired you to write this piece of shit post or is it you still have not figured out that I am Vic the owner of Bu.bulico.us? But with the difference that I am not a coward you are the sorry fucker that marked my comment as spam.

But now that your incredible relationship with Yaro Starak did not produce any results and your famous incredible blog network and DotComPreneur is also shit. Now you come here to suck my dick because I am one of the owners of Blogging Zoom?

Bryan I treat everybody the same no matter what they own or how much money they have an asshole is an asshole and a good person is a good person.

So fuck you and go suck some other bloggers dick. I have no need for you to be telling me how good my blog is now you fucking moron the same advice I am giving here is the advice I tried to give you On August 30 2007 but that day I was “The Hater” and now suddenly I am doing a great job and keep up the good work FUCK YOU LOSER!!!

Now the part I want to highlight is even though in your you say and I will quote from your link bait post Life’s Too Short To Be An A-Hole you answer to a comment from Bruce the following

I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t read much of his site. With his writing ability, it’s nearly impossible. It’s like trying to read a newspaper that was stuffed in the washing machine.

But on your first comment on my site you say the following:

I don’t think it’d be a stretch to call you the biggest idiot I’ve met while blogging, Vic. “Looser” (try LOSER next time). Insults just don’t hit as hard when they’re misspelled.

So, out of curiosity… I went through your archived posts today since you say I’m stealing your material. I didn’t find one post that matched anything you said, and if you are talking about the niche blogging series… MY BLOG IS ABOUT BLOGGING! It’s quite possible to assume I might write about niche blogs eventually. If it makes you feel better though, your blog didn’t inspire the articles (I hadn’t read them until today)… Caroline Middlebrook’s e-book did.

Vic, it’s easy to see why you are a lonely old A-hole. Maybe he wasn’t hugged enough as a child. Somebody step up… this guy needs a hug, or a role model or something.

Anyway, I’m done here. I’m tired of talking about what an idiot this guy is. So don’t expect me to chime in on future Vic conversations.
