Crowdsourcing or crowd clout is a great concept. If you haven’t heard of this idea basically it is what makes sites like Digg operate. The idea is fairly simple - the wisdom and power of a large crowd is more powerful then an individual.
Here are some other ideas for crowdsourcing which I find very interesting:
CambrianHouse - “Crowdsourcing is when people gather via the Internet to create something and share in the profit, often without ever meeting each other in person. Cambrian House is a community that enables people and businesses to harness the wisdom and participation of crowds – for commerce”.
My Football Club - “For the first time in football history, fans have the opportunity to buy and then take control of a professional football club – both on and off the pitch.
Every MyFootballClub member will have an equal say in team selection, player transfers and the running of the club.
Members will own the club through their MyFootballClub Trust, and together they will attempt to guide their football club to success.”
Crowd Spirit - “Bringing the dreams of the CrowdSpirit community to life. The CrowdSpirit community aims to start a revolution in manufacturing by creating the 1st electronic products driven and inspired by customers’ wishes and expectations”.
This whole crowdsourcing, or crowd clout got me thinking about blogging. Here is a crazy “what-if” scenario - what if the top ten money making bloggers decided to collaborate on one large blog? As a stipulation they could leave the group if they were at all unhappy. But, they wouldn’t just be writing their own articles and submitting them to the site. The group would have to vote on all the articles to be published and on every aspect of site before it could move forward.
What do I think would happen? Well, I think the blog would be hugely popular just because of the big names involved. But, I don’t all the bloggers would last very long. Some of the top bloggers have egos bigger then the internet itself and simply could not handle this kind of situation.
Can you imaging if this was successful though? Only the greatest articles and advice would be published because it would have to get through 10 very intelligent people before it had a shot at being published. This was just a random thought I had for the day.

sites like digg have useful articles but like all sites, it can be gamed. there will always be spam and there will always be groups of people gaming the system. it’s a great idea tho. an internet where only useful info exist
@Noob I agree that Digg isn’t exactly the best way to determine a great article. I was just saying that the idea behind Digg is using crowdsourcing. I have an idea for a whole article on Digg and I just didn’t want to get too into it here.
gotcha. rook, you’re writing some very informative, and lengthy articles. u should drop the rookie from your title. keep it up man
