Is DealDotCom Really a Good Deal?

Some of you may have noticed I took down the DealDotCom’s Deal of the Day from the right sidebar. When I first heard about DealDotCom I thought it was a great idea and I saw it generate a lot of buzz. When I fist got The Rookie Blogger up DealDotCom was one of the first affiliates I signed up for. I decided to remove DealDotCom from The Rookie Blogger for a couple of reasons:

  • Most of the “deals” aren’t really that great
  • Most of the “deals” are pretty worthless

What About These Great Deals and Why are They Worthless?

Most of the products are offered at a lower price then on the author’s page. Here is the thing though - most of these products are E-books of some sort. Which means most products are by digital download. DealDotCom actually claims these products are “sorry. all gone.”. Now, I understand the author probably has some say in how many products can sell at this “low” price, but let’s me serious for a minute here - wouldn’t you want to sell as many products in the 24 hour period as possible. This “sorry. all gone.” business is just a marketing tactic to get buyers to purchase these products early on.

I am not even going to get into how cheap someone can produce a digital download. The price increase is for the “information” contained in the E-book. These “great deals” just remind me of all those pages I have visited that promise “unlimited income potential” for a low, low price of $97. You all know the pages I am talking about. I am not singling out everything offered on DealDotCom, but I have seen many of these types of “deals”.

The “nail in the coffin” for me was when I stumbled upon an article over at Cash Quests titled “Evil Way to Get 50% Off DealDotCom Products”. This is a great article. Basically, Cash Quests shows you if these products have an affiliate program (which a lot will) you can sign up for this program and get a better “deal” than DealDotCom offers. I will let you read the article because it goes into more depth. Now, I realize this won’t work with every product and that is not the point. This type of scheme just shows the real “value” of most of these products - they really don’t have a value.

Dont get me wrong, I am not saying all the products on DealDotCom are worthless. But, I pretty much like to avoid online money making schemes promising you wealth and happiness. We all know this just doesn’t happen. When a website is trying to slang these types of products just to make a quick buck I get a little agitated. I really hope DealDotCom offers some more reputable products which don’t have the cliché “single-center-column-sales-pitch-page”. Until this happens, I won’t put DealDotCom back on The Rookie Blogger.

I understand were your coming from, lots of EBooks can be shady. Alot of the ones on Ebay that say they will help you become successful with selling don’t have anything to really offer. That website looks really ghetto too lol

I think I would like to make money from my blog, but I am not willing to clutter it up with a bunch of ads. I would rather get paid for my writing, like with Associated Content, than have a bunch of ads in the sidebar. So far I have one ad sense unit on there, but I doubt it will ever pay anything. I have only seen one thing on there that I would ever have wanted to check out.

I also think a lot of people overlook the ads because they are so common.
