The Rookie Blogger is officially a month old today. I mentioned in my about me page I would offer earning updates every month. I will be writing a post at the end of November with earning updates and also the winner of my $50 giveaway. The first month has been pretty interesting for me personally. I realized a couple of things right off the bat:

I haven’t exactly made much money yet, but it is still fun trying to figure out ways to monetize your blog and play around with different methods of advertising. I think one thing I learned about Text Link Ads is for a new blog they probably won’t work the best. I have yet to get any advertisers from Text Link Ads, but their affiliate referral program is still great way to make money. I am going to take down “Featured Sites” soon and go with my own direct advertising links until traffic picks up.

A contest is a great way to get backlinks and traffic for your blog. My Technorati ranking is at 51 last time I checked and most of those are contest links. I also think its very fun to give back to your readers and I can’t wait to announce the winner of the $50 giveaway.

I am also working on a couple side projects and those take up the time I am not spending blogging. When you start a blog about making money online you definitely never stop thinking of ways to do this - which leads to side projects and partnerships. I really wish there were more hours in the day.
