One Great Marketing Scheme

While watching the Cowboys and Eagles game on Fox tonight I saw a commercial for Burger King. In this commercial at one of the Burger King locations they pretend they no longer serve the Whopper anymore. This type of marketing scheme was dubbed “Whopper Freakout”. You should see some of the reactions of the people here.

Some of the reactions include pure rage to bringing back happy memories of the Whopper. This “Whopper Freakout” marketing scheme did a couple of things for Burger King. First, it shows what happens when a long standing tradition ceases to exist. This will generally upset customers who have been going to Burger King for years to get a burger and may induce a “Whopper Freakout”.

Secondly, a “Whopper Freakout” might happen because a customer thinks a certain product is a brand or identity of a company (the Whopper is an icon for Burger King).

The same goes for blogging - if your favorite blog all of a sudden went down forever this may induce a “Whopper Freakout” on your end. Also, you may have a “Whopper Freakout” if your favorite blog about making money online all of a sudden started blogging about basket weaving.

My point is every blog has a brand/product and tradition people come to read and these readers need to appreciate this because one day it may be gone and there will be a “Whopper Freakout”.

There are a couple of those BK versions and nice way to tie it in. The one I saw had a skater looking type kid who looked like someone stole his puppy.
