The Rookie Blogger Reincarnated

Where the hell have I been?

Right before Christmas I found 3 blogs which changed my thinking on the whole ‘make money online’ niche. Basically, after reading the 3 blogs for the last month I had an epiphany - I won’t make it in this niche. Forget the fact that everyone and their brother is starting a make money online blog (fierce competition). Everything in this niche is just rehashed bullshit. I don’t care if you agree with me or not because I have read enough blogs to know everyone blogs about the same crap.

How can anyone make it with these terrible odds?

Well, you can be one of the lucky few who somehow command the mindless drones who read your blog everyday and suck up in your comments. I just don’t understand how you can read countless blogs in the niche that rehash every topic with just a little twist and pass it off as ‘original’. I won’t lie, I was doing this same thing before because that is what I thought I had to do (everyone was doing it) to succeed. Slap up some Adsense and some Affiliate banners rehash then repeat…. This is a flawless approach right? Hell no it is crap. Just because John Chow or Darren Rowse wrote about a topic today doesn’t mean the whole damn niche has to follow suit. Am I taking crazy pills here, or something? How can people not realize this is what is going on after so long. Who do you think benefits from all this? The ‘A-listers’ for sure get a shit load of backlinks and affiliate sales and keep raking in the cash (don’t get me wrong, I would do the same thing in their position). A few other bloggers in the middle might get lucky and make a thousand or so a month. But, everyone else is just screwed. You may make a few dollars, but trust me - this is really unfulfilling.

How did you get to this point?

I honestly got to the point where I wasn’t being myself on the blog and I wasn’t happy with that fact. I was struggling getting traffic because someone already read the same shit 10 times that day, or the day before. I was struggling with coming up with ideas in the niche that I felt had an personal feel to them and I hated this. So, I took a long break from the blog to get a fresh start. My plan of attack will be different then before and I don’t plan on monetizing this blog a whole lot. The blog will now have more random topics and will consist of me venting my frustrations for the whole ‘make money online’ niche. Hopefully you will not make the same mistakes I made.

How are you Reincarnated?

Well, I like to think I did a complete 180 on my thinking and my style.  I also went through 2 site redesigns.  I tried out Adii’s Polaroid theme but didn’t like the way it looked in IE.  So, I switched to another free option and came up with a little bit of a custom header character.  I like the way the site turned out.  I don’t plan on blowing money on one of the cookie cutter custom themes that all look the same. I decided to utilize a free option for now.  The Rookie Blogger has changed in more ways then one and I promise readers one thing from now on - ramblings of a blogger who realized the truth about the make money online niche.
